Abstract | Polylactide/hydroxyapatite composites were prepared by a solution mixture method. Chloroform and tetrahydrofuran were used as solvents. The effect of the solvents on the polylactide/hydroxyapatite composites was investigated by TEM, mechanical properties, sedimentation time and UV-Vis transmission spectra. The results indicate that the polylactide/hydroxyapatite prepared using tetrahydrofuran as solvent has better dispersion of the hydroxyapatite filler in the matrix and larger bend strength than the one using chloroform as solvent. This is ascribed to the proper interaction between the solvent and hydroxyapatite filler. |
