AbstractGuided bone regeneration can be achieved using filling biomaterials and protective membranes. The aim of this work is to study a new membrane prepared from shrimp shells, without modification of the natural concave shape. The "in vitro" bioactivity was evaluated using a simulated body fluid prepared with substitution of calcium by strontium (SBR-Sr). The bioactivity behaviour was increased using a surface treatment with sodium silicate. The "in vitro" and "in vivo" tests allow to conclude that these membranes are bioactive and can induce bone growth on their surfaces.
