Short Description:

The pro-inflammatory cytokine Tumor Necrosis Factor (TNF)-α is involved in chronic inflammatory diseases. Anti-TNF-α drugs are being used as the most recent forms of treatment, but those reduce capacity to fight infections, do not promote inflammation resolution, neither revert existing joint damage. New more targeted treatments are thus necessary. Dendritic cells (DC) are immune cells that constitute interesting targets to resolve chronic inflammation, while mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSC) hold great promise in tissue regeneration strategies. The results obtained in the current study point out the potential of resveratrol as a natural anti-TNF-α drug, capable of modulating DC activation and function, as well as DC-mediated MSC recruitment.
