THESIS DEFENSE: Long-lived lives – the role of the contextual determinants

INEB PhD student Ana Isabel Ribeiro defended her thesis on April 19th 2016 at FMUP, Faculdade de Medicina - Universidade do Porto. The thesis is entitled "Long-lived lives – the role of the contextual determinants" and it was developed in the area of Public Health.

Supervised by Maria de Fátima Pina, PhD (researcher and group leader at INEB) and co-supervised by Marília Sá Carvalho, MD, PhD (researcher at FIOCRUZ), Ana Isabel's work focused on old age survival rate.

The main objective of this thesis is to understand how and to what extent do social and environmental determinants affect the inequalities in old-age survival and active ageing in Europe, Portugal and Porto municipality.
